Living From The Inside Out

Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind - Romans 12:2

In the grand scheme of things, there are only two things that exist, mind and thought. Everything that exists was either created by God (or Divine Mind) or the mind of man. We have the power to create our reality whether we know it or not. We can influence our circumstances and our environment by consciously thinking different thoughts. When we continually think thoughts of peace, love, life, wisdom, and/or joy then our world has to respond. It has no choice in the matter because we are in control of it and not the other way around.

I've heard it said this way: either you are consciously creating your own reality or living in a reality created by someone else. I don't know about you but the latter doesn't sound good to me at all.

On my way to work one day, I was listening to some affirmations I recorded on health. The one that resonated with me the most was "I create only peaceful experiences because I love myself. All is well." by Louise Hay. All day I focused on this thought as much as possible.

The end result was a more peaceful work environment.

Living from the inside out means controlling your thoughts (Cause) to manifest the desired outcome in your circumstances (Effect). Too many times we focus on the Effect and take our minds off the Cause. If we want a different Effect, then we must have a different Cause.

There is no other way.

This law of Cause and Effect is a universal law like the law of gravity but on a different plane. Universal laws are based on undeniable principles and they cannot be changed.

Right now I'm working on keeping my thoughts centered on the Source of my being at all times. I expect more love and joy to be realized in my experience on a day to day basis.

If I Turn The Other Cheek, Will You Slap Me Again?

I recently have been experiencing a  challenge with a certain person who is purposely trying to harm me. Some people have asked me why this person is behaving in such an insensitive manor. I cannot honestly answer that question. I have learned that people are going to be who they are and I can change someone else. They have to be willing to change and then they must take action to change themselves. It doesn't work any other way.

What we must do when someone does us harm or tries to hurt us is "turn the other cheek."

I know your probably thinking, "Why should I let someone continue to harm me?" Don't get me wrong. I'm not say to go out and be somebody's punching bag. Neither am I saying don't defend yourself either because truthfully if you put your hands on me, all bets are off! God is still working with me on that and I haven't reached the mentality of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. yet. One day I may get there but Im sure its not today.

So what does all this "turn the other cheek" business mean anyway? Metaphysically it means to turn to your Spiritual Self, the Infinite Intelligence, the Christ Self, or the Subconscious.

Is this easy? Absolutely not. It takes alot of practice to think from this level especially since one of the first things we must do is forgive the very person who offended us. Then we must forgive ourselves for getting upset. Forgiveness is not and easy process and it will take a while before you can get to the point where the source of the agitation doesn't bother you. How long you ask? Jesus in his teachings said 70 times 77 which to me means as long as it takes (Matt 18:22).

Remember its your peace of mind that is at stake. Not the other person's. Oftentimes people don't even know they've upset us. We're the ones who harbor the feelings and emotions and we end up making ourselves upset for long periods of time and this is unhealthy. That's why its important to not only forgive the other person but to forgive ourselves too.

I hope this message helps somebody today. As for me I'm going to go work on my 70 times 77!

Have a great day!

What Is Metaphysics?

In my search to give you some content and background on metaphysics today, I came across this article by Julie Lewin. Enjoy!

What Is Metaphysics?

By Julie Lewin

Metaphysics isn't physics. It's a branch of philosophy that attempts to explain the fundamental nature of being. It examines the true nature of being and reality, whether visible or invisible. It includes the power of thought to create (the relationship between mind and matter), intelligent consciousness and more.

It is a form of spirituality, but it is not a religion.

There are many different spiritual practices worldwide that are metaphysical in nature:

  • yoga
  • meditation
  • even prayer

which can transcend religious belief and become the process of attaining unity with all there is.

The word comes from the Greek 'meta' (beyond) and 'physika' (physics) - the science of what is beyond the physical. Aristotle coined the term, but he credits earlier philosophers with the teachings that all things derive from a single first cause.

Much of what is taught in metaphysics cannot be understood by the logical mind.

You probably have your own metaphysical questions:

  • What is the meaning of life?
  • Why am I here?
  • What is reality?
  • What is my purpose?
  • What is God?
  • Is there more than this physical existence?
  • What is consciousness?
  • How was everything created?

... and more...

A lot of metaphysical study is done through introspection, usually meditation.

Metaphysics is above all a process of self-discovery!

Ultimately, you arrive at your own truth - no matter what any spiritual teacher may tell you. Even the Buddha said, "believe nothing, even if it comes from me." What that means is not that there is no one truth - truth is as individual as the way we each perceive the world.

Confused? Understandably! This is what metaphysics attempts to explain.

Or rather... you will learn how to explain these questions for yourself.

Metaphysical studies teach you some important concepts:

You already possess all the knowledge you need. It is within you. You are connected to God, or Infinite Being, or Source, Creator, Consciousness, Energy, Force... whatever name you give the power that created everything.

Metaphysics will push the limits of your beliefs and allow you to explore alternative beliefs - and ultimately allow you to come to a truth that is pure and unbiased.

What does metaphysics teach you?

Metaphysics teaches you to be truly open-minded to new ideas, possibilities and interpretations. On some level, even the wisest of us is constrained by conditioned beliefs we don't even know we possess. Meditation and other metaphysical practices help us identify these conditioned beliefs and delete them.

Metaphysics explores the concepts duality and non-duality.

Our perceptions of the world are challenged in metaphysics.

To become open-minded is to be open to alternative perspectives and to look beyond words and our physical experience to the true nature of things.

These are the sorts of fun discussions you can have with yourself about the nature of being and the nature of reality.

Let your heart guide you in your explorations - your higher self already knows exactly what you need to be learning at this point in time. As you gain more and more of these sorts of insights, you will take down the walls of limited thinking, brick by brick.

And then, the understanding of the true nature of being will be clearer to you.

Metaphysics is a fascinating journey beyond the physical world. As you study its principles and ponder the questions that the logical mind cannot comprehend you learn a lot about yourself and your true nature in the process.

I Can't Change You But...

I can change my attitude about you. I have the power to change how I see you at any moment. I can use my power of imagination to "see you in a different light". I can use my power of love to send you loving energy now matter what's going on or where I am.

Perception is reality so how I see you in my mind's eye is how you are in reality...to me. You may be a really nice person but I see you as a jerk then guess what? To me you are a jerk.

So is it easier to change me or to change you?

I can't change you so why try? I can however change my thoughts about you because that's all I have 100% control of is my thoughts. That is the kingdom we each rule whether we realize it or not...the kingdom of our thoughts.

By changing our thoughts we can change our circumstance and environment. If something or someone comes on your path we can immediately ask ourselves, "What has this person or thing come to teach me? What is the lesson I need to learn from this?"

If you ask, you will get an answer.
